Wednesday Night :-l

After the episode of seizure/posturing he was given two doses of Ativan and increased the dose of phenobarbitol. The attending Dr. came and set another art line in the right arm instead of the left. They need a place to be able to draw his blood every 2 hours and a port for the blood pressure medication. She gave him a paralytic so he wouldn't move during the procedure and it that lasts 30-40 minutes. He seems really peaceful right now. His blood pressure started to tank (it's a side effect to the Ativan) so they had to restart the norepinephrine but was only on it a short time before it leveled back out. His sodium is low so they are going to restart it. Keeping this up will help draw fluid from the brain into the blood and then into the urine so he can pee it out. Any pressure away from the brain is good. Hct has stayed at 25. No talk of transfusion today.

They keep talking about this roller coaster ride that we got on the minute we entered the ER. The first part are the biggest ups and downs then hopefully they get smaller and smaller until we get off. The goal is to have more ups than downs.

I'm Doug's sister in California- I just want you to know you are in my prayers. My girls are so concerned about Charlie and want to always know how he is. You are in our prayers. I don't know if there is anything I can do so far away, but if you think of something, let me know. And if I think of something, I'll do it. Stay strong!

I hate any roller coaster. Vertigo is my bane and anything rougher than "its a small world" makes me nauseous. Rob

About a week before Mark went to Seattle for his bone marrow transplant, Steve Brown (he was in the Stake Pres at the time) called us into his office. The only thing that I remember about that meeting was this. He said that experiences that we cannot control make us bitter or better and we can control that. 20 years later I still think about that when things are not going the way I would like. All of the junk that is going on now, will teach you lessons you can not learn any other way. It is such a bummer that it works this way....but it does. I know in my heart (yes meggie, i have a heart) that faith preceds the miracle and sometime we don't know what the miracle will be. This will be OK. I love you all.

Thank you for the opportunity of visiting with us tonight. You two are such beautiful, strong and incredible people. Charlie is a very lucky boy to have parents like you by his side. We love our cousins so much and want you to please let us know if we can do anything at all to help you thru these times. Please use and abuse us... (Easy Rob):) We love you dearly, Jeff & Mitzi

I do not know you, but I came across your blog and had to leave a comment. We just got home from PCMC. My little girl had a brain tumor in her brain stem and due to many complications spent 3 months there. She had hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) and had to have to a lumbar drain...which led to spinal meningits. She has since recovered and is getting better every day, but it was a rough time. Reading through your blog I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes....I know you don't know us, but we will be keeping you in our prayers.

I am just once again sending my love and prayers from Sydney, Australia, as do my friends and family. Your little boy has amazing spirit to be such a fighter. Your strength is helping him stay that way. Our hearts are with you, even though we have never met.
Stay strong Charlie :)
