Settling Down

Our little man has had quite a busy day. After surgery he was only in recovery for about 1/2 hour then we got back to the room about 1230. Hoards of Doc's, RN's, Tech's, and Therapists have been swarming Charlie from then till just now. So finally alone I can get a update. His brain is draining like crazy and he is still pretty fired up. Probably because he hasn't been left alone for the last 3 hrs. He got fitted for his wrist splints by the Occupational Therapist and had his eye's checked by the Ophthalmologist. Good news, his eyes look normal w/ no visible retina damage. Not so good news, they still don't know if he can see. They'll have to re-evaluate him when he is more alert and able to participate a little. He had a brief PT session but they only worked his legs because w/ this drain thing has to stay at the same level as his head making it harder to move him around. Hopefully he'll calm down and do a little sleeping and maybe slow the rush of fluid coming out of his dome.

you're little boy is a stud. he is such a champ and he doesn't even know it yet. I am so proud of him and you both. i have such admiration, pride, i don't know - for the 2 of you. i just really love you and am so grateful you're in my life. and coop is such a little hero - i love him so much.
i know he is going to feel better. i'm not expressing what is in my heart well at all. but know that i love your "holland" with all my heart. I am not going to stop by today - but i would love to talk to you if you have a chance. if i had a picture of a little mangy cat hanging from a tree, i would insert it here...

Sweet little Charlie. That does not look comfortable. Hang in there little guy. Angel I just have to tell you that every time I sit down with Ella to look at the blog she just stares at the screen. Its probably because the screen is so bright but I like to think its because she likes to see the picture of Charlie.:)

Charlie, you really know how to pull off the "bald look." The lack of hair in that one spot makes you look even more like your daddy!(No offense Rob). Love you guys and praying hard!

Our prayers will continue to flow for all of you! Charlie has got to feel better with all of the fluid draining off now- I have taken care of lots of people that have had shunts in place and live normal lives... I am so amazed by the strength that both of you are showing for your sweet boy! I am in a constant state of WOW everytime I check the blog for updates and see the number of hits growing. Hang in there- God won't give you anymore than you can handle!

Rob & Angel,

My name is Sallie and I have the great pleasure of working with Grandma Cheryl. Many of our staff members have become addicted to this blog site (including myself). I feel the need to read about your little man several times a day. Charlie is always in our lunch-time conversation. Please know that we have come to love your sweet guy and we pray that with each passing day, Charlie gets a little strong. Your beautiful family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Hug,
Sallie

My computer has been down again, so I have to say when I first saw this picture of Charlie I was really disturbed. Fortunately reading all these blogs have made me feel better. I hope this well help the little one turn his course around. What a trial you have all faced. You are all amazing and little Charlie, you are absolutely amazing.

Teri may have taken Chad's phone away... but who is going to keep from reinjuring himself? You, Rob!?

Well, I pray that Charlie calms down and settles in to this new phase. Bless you all! JIll B

Hey You Two,
I had to deal with the roller coster with cassie. And hearing your comments reminds me of the ups and the hope and the downs of dispare. You two are amazing how you are handleing it. Our hearts ache for you two and what you are going through. Remember the angels and our heavely father are holding cooper when you are not able to be there. I know this I have felt them. Hang in there and never give up hope. You are the best. Let jared know if we can do anything. Our home is set up for kids. So brit is welcome here if you need a sitter. We pray for you always love the Jones family
P.S. Rob your brother Jared is the man doing what he has done on your home. he spends every spare moment over there you are a lucky brother god bless.

Poor Charlie! I have been praying for you and thinking of you often! I hope that this shunt will help you to get rid of all the bad "stuff" in your body. I've been learning that there is way more to our systems than can be imagined. Sometimes it just needs help achieving that feeling of homeostasis. Keep fighting Charlie! Keep on keepin' on!

I hope you get some rest--all of you, and we'll continue sending our prayers to heaven. I'm just thankful those angels are there with sweet Charlie. Much love

The picture makes my heart hurt, but I know it will help him. So, if Charlie has a bald spot to look like his dad, did Rob get one to look like Chad?

I am praying for all of you, and hope you will all be well and happy as soon as possible. Please let me know if I can do anything.

Love, Jamie
