Sunday :(

Charlie’s fever continued off and on throughout the night, however, it only got up to 101 and Mortrin brought it down. Around 5:00 am, his heart rate and blood pressure slowly began dropping. When they got to 58/24 (BP) and 102(HR) the nurse called the resident and he ordered a bolous of fluids to bring it back up. It took about 2 hours but they slowly have come up to a comfortable range. He also held Charlie’s favorite medication (clonadine) morning dose because it can cause low blood pressures. So far he hasn’t missed it because he is so sleepy. The first round of CSF results came in with no bacteria growth so far. They will continue growing it for at least another day. If they can’t find a source for the fever they may try taking out his PICC line (IV access tube on his left arm). It does not look red or inflamed but it has been in for 4 weeks. Good news= he no longer needs oxygen

I spent the day in the ICU yesterday doing a respiratory therapy clinical for school and have such respect for you being there day in and day out for the last five+ weeks. I'm glad he's holding his sat's on his own and hoping that his pressures stable themselves as well. It sounds like it's time for a new PICC line and to let that arm rest for a while. Great news that he coughed and had a slight gag reflex.

Know that you all are in the thoughts of so many and I pray for you all each day.

What are the meds that he's on currently? What's the latest on placing a J/G tube? I watched one placed yesterday and it was pretty slick and quick.

Love and miss you all.

Many many prayers coming for Charlie from Massachusetts. Although I do not know you Charlie and your family have touched my family so much. We are always thinking of him and know he will get better. Do you have a team in place to walk for Charlie that we could send a donation to?

I am a fan of Charlie's and I have been out of town....while I was gone, the babysitters reported that every night my little boy insisted on praying for a little baby named "Charlie." I too prayed all week for him and continue to do so. I hope they figure out what the deal is with his fever. Poor guy!I also hope your family is doing well or maybe well as you can be is a more accurate phrase . I feel heartbroken and helpless everytime I read your blog....I wish there was more I can do. I do pray and believe in Charlie though. He is something great and I can tell that, even if I never met him. So I guess for what it's worth, while I worry for Charlie, I pray and believe in his resolution to keep fighting and get better. God bless you, your family, and especially your little angel Charlie.

We are sending out our prayers to Charlie and your family from the East Coast! I hope that the fever disappears soon.
That's encouraging news about the gag reflex. I love seeing pics of the sweet little guy (especially when he is in PT or OT). He is a beautiful little boy.

Charlie's fan club in the Erie, PA area are still praying for him. The fever is a little disconcerting, hope that resolves itself quickly. Give Charlie a big squeeze from his PA "friends". Take care of each other. We will keep praying for you all.

I am so glad oxygen is not needed anymore. That was a step in the wrong direction. I hope they figure out what is going on with this fever! Teeth maybe? Ears? I'm sure the genius doctors have all thought of that, but it never hurts to ask. I hope it is not his PICC line, will they put a new one in if it is? On a side note, when is the big move in day? I would love to help!

Just wanted you to know you have prayers coming from Virginia as well. It seems to me that Charlie is making more of a difference in this little world than a lot of people do in a lifetime! We are better people and a better family because of 'knowing' you and yours through this blog.
