Good Day! :)

Today was a good day! Grandma Kathi held him for a couple hours this morning then he relaxed a little for me to practice changing his G-tube dressing and vent his tube. Afterwards it was off to PT with Janine and worked on staying calm while being rolled from side to side. He still needs practice in this aspect but he is getting better. Then after therapy Grandpa Brian rocked him while rubbing his feet and he fell asleep in his arms. He swears the foot massage is the trick. I will have to try it. I wish I had my camera but I took it home on Tuesday and it’s somewhere in the new move-in chaos. He fell asleep for a couple hours and then got his daily dose of love from Grandma Cheryl. He is lucky to be loved so much! They are going to look at his chest x-ray to see if his stomach is on the film as well so that he doesn't have to go for a separate x-ray. He is still on ½ pedialite and ½ formula but we have graduated to a speed of 30 cc/hour. The nurse Emily (she says "hi" to Danielle and Lacie and Glen McKay) has been fantastic. Of course it helps that Charlie is her only patient today and he has been on his best behavior. She helped me “check residuals” and he seems to be emptying his stomach OK on this speed. Because the feedings are lower than what he needs, the difference is being made up through IV fluids. I have told him that he has to have a good night and behave for Shanilla and that if she tries to sneak him any treats through his tube that he should just say “no”.

Angel....before you leave, please let the night RN know that they need to keep an eye on Shani so she doesn't sneak any redbull into the tube feeds.

I am so glad Coop had a good day. Everytime I am in with Charlie, I am sure if I could just hold him tight and rock him he would relax. HORRAY that his brain is finally calming down so he can be held! We love you!

First of all, I think I have a bad rap. I mean seriously. What am I supposed to feed your kids? Beets and Bran Flakes? BORING! I am merely magnifying my calling as the treat aunt.

I love checking in on your blog everyday. I am so good that Charlie had a good day. Hopefully the good will outlast the bad. We will keep him in our prayers over the next few days.

As I have sat here reading some of the comments about reading your posts, you amaze me. You have so much support and there is so much love for you guys that you will see that no matter what happens you are blessed and being watched over. Charlie is an inspiration to many and he will be his whole life. Heavenly Father has a plan for him and he will touch many hearts in the process.

Thanks for the updates. I know my blogging suck lately because we have been busy with home health visits and the results of weeks of antibiotic treatments are catching up to us.

Is the nurse Emily a long, skinny gal with long blonde hair and a shiny aura surrounding her? Great smile, perfect attitude? Got back from a mission last year? I don't want to put her last name, although it probably wouldn't matter. She lives right around the corner from me, we love her. Coop is super lucky if it is her. Not that he isn't super lucky with all those nurses - just extra super. Meghan, I like rice. I may have to curse you for that game on you blog!

Dont beets make your pooh red? They cant taste that good, I think I would rather throw up rice! (u know it expands in your tummy and feels like thumb tacks on the way up) Beets are 2 thumbs down!!!

I am so glad that Aunt Shani is staying with Cooper tonight. She seems like such a fun aunt. Does she ever foster kids that need more fun aunts? Mine only has one.

I swear that was not me weirdo! That is only during your silly rice game. Besides, I would have used the term "ridiculously good-looking" had I written that about myself. -Shani

Whit- Yes that description of Emily is spot on. She is a float nurse so we may not get her again although she said she will try to check in on us on Sunday. She was a great nurse and awesome personality. I hope she "floats" our way again.

Yep, Emily is a float nurse, I'm positive it is the same. I want Caroline to grow up to be just like Emily and her little sis Lisa but I may have to give custody to their mom for that to happen, I don't know many who raise them like they do. Tell her hi.
