Friday Morn

I was too worried to sleep last night so I asked the nurse to look up the CT results so I could get it straight. Syd was not concerned when she gave results to the Grandmas so I thought the information was just backwards. The results said pneumocephalis (air in the brain) in the right ventricle (where the drain is) and the other three ventricles were enlarged from previous scans. The impression on the report stated that the drain had good positioning but increasing hydrocephalis (fluid in the brain). The information was correct and yet it didn’t seem to be a concern. When I saw the right eye deviating to the right side I got nervous and had the nurse page the rehab resident (Cameron). He said they had noticed the right eye deviation for a couple days now but since he didn’t open his right eye very much before they felt it was not new. He also told me that they stopped the draining of fluid for hours before the surgery so the neurosurgeons have a bigger target when inserting the shunt. Syd had talked to Cameron about the findings but did not feel it was “true increased hydrocephalis” otherwise they would have intervened immediately. They both came by this morning to talk to me and reiterated what was said last night. Syd is going to talk to the neuroradiologists and then we are supposed to do another CT in a week to re-evaluate. Something else that was mentioned was the possibility of the ventricles not shrinking due to atrophy (wasting away of tissue). L The chest x-rays also show a small amount of thickening in his lungs probably from mucous. There is not much and Charlie doesn’t require any oxygen so they are not concerned

That is alot of information. It is so much to take in when you are by yourself. I hope Rob gets back to you soon. I am hoping Charlie has a very restful day.

You are so good to have them explain and clarify any information that seems off to you. I think you are doing a great job, you are having to take on a lot, learn so much and still have life outside of the NTU. It will be good to have Rob back, even though your posts are just perfect.

Angel you are an amazing mom and only hope when I am a mother I will be half as good. Charlie and Britt are two very lucky boys to have such an amazing mom and dad. I am nurse and was so impressed at how you advocated for the little man and got clarification for any concerns you may have. Hang in there, lots of prayers from Boston:)

Angel, I agree with all the above. It's good you are so smart and know what is worrisome.
Does anyone know if Rob will be able to stay in the valley for a while or if he has to leave again? Hope for Angel's sake he can stay for a while.

Angel,
You truly are amazing, and I'm so blessed to call you my friend. I'm glad Rob will be home to share some of your burdens and pains in person. Get some rest and we'll talk soon.
Love and prayers,
Rox

PS. Rocky and I managed to get influenza yesterday, so I won't be able to come by for a while.....miss you

Just got back from taking Viv to get her hair done (one of thosee crucially necessary tasks that we done once a week). I took her first to Tammy and Steve's house. Tammy bailed her out at Costco yesterday and we went to pay her back for her kindness. Anyway, thanks to all of you are helping out in so many ways. (Mom loved the house!)
Then I drove her past your house and your cute mom was out there and everything looked so awesome and ready... wow~! Next, I drove her past Stacy's new house and she was equally impressed. You have all done so well for yourselves and that makes her really happy.

I wanted also to reiterate Mar's comment about Marion and Coke.. that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the bottle/can.

It is a beautiful day today and you can't help feeling better about the world, I hope Coop will somehow feel the hope.

I also have to agree with one other thing Mar said and that was the "praying". There have been a lot of times in my life that I have not feeled compelled to pray. That is not the case now. I can't even attempt to sleep unless I have both "thanked" and "pleaded" with our Lord for something that is happening over there is PCMC.

So many blessings can't help but HELP!

Love you, JIll B
