Good Morning :-)

Two blessings in Rob’s world today. One, Charlie did fantastic again last night. The Principal was here last night w/ him and reports that from midnight on he slept quite well w/ only occasional moments of irritation. He’s out cold right now and looks super peaceful. The one common denominator in the last 3 nights being good for Super Cooper is the addition of Melatonin to his P.M. regimen. If that is indeed the case his old man will have to restrain from being entirely irked because Melatonin was supposed to be added to his Rx buffet a while ago and some doc overlooked it and never got it on the menu, until 3 days ago. Melatonin is a OTC med that helps w/ sleep and how long have we said that Charlie has his days and nights mixed up? I’m “keyed” (Britton’s new word for excited.) that he is on the med now cuz it seems to work right proper. Charlie had another bath yesterday which was sorely needed. I’m in awe at the amount of odor that a little infant can produce just by laying in a bed and drooling, it gets pretty funky. Another new smell that we have here in Redskins Country is his breath, OHHHH MYYYY GOOOSSHHHHHHH!!! Since they pulled his feeding tube back to his stomach his breath smells approximately like, how to put this so to be both eloquent and descriptive, well it smells like BUTT. The reasoning we are given is that he hasn’t had food in his stomach for over a month and he has a surplus of raunchy juices that need to be dealt with and over time his oral aroma will improve. Thank goodness, I was about to give you all a stock tip so you could buy into Listerine because I thought I was going to have to buy mouthwash by the barrel.

The second blessing in Rob’s world is that when I got here this morning I was going through some to the cupboards in Char’s room and found some Peeps that I bought right after we came to Neuro-Trauma, and of course I opened them over a month ago as to let them age in true Marion L.E. Nordfors fashion, and they were in perfect condition. So for breakfast today it was Diet Coke and six boxes of Peeps that were just stiff enough that they didn’t break when you bit them. A little taste of heaven. No I’m not sick, I’m like a Peep alcoholic, I have a 32 year tolerance and an iron gut. Ramon the Tech and I are concocting a way to get a peep in Char’s feeding tube, I think it’s only fair and Gammy would want it that way.

Maybe you could just let Charlie lick one.

He truly is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen and he has come so far already. Many prayers coming to you from mass

the peep pic is a work of art. love it. and the strategically placed arm in the tub picture. incredible. you should major in photography.. oh, i forgot you were a college dropout.
i also noticed how stinky his little hands were yesterday when he beat me up trying to put his braces one. how coud he get stinky hands?
and "keyed"? are you kidding me? has max been here? i think you need to rethink some of that boys friends...
i'm thrilled about the melatonin and cautiuosly optimistic about the eyeballs. i think its going to be a good day.

Meggie.......are you kidding? The peep photo is not a Rob original. He found it on some stock photo website and don't believe any BS otherwise.

i don't know suz, i looked around and couldn't find anything like it. note to searchers: make sure your "moderate safe search" is on when searching peeps

I love the peep story! Peeps and Diet Coke sound like a good breakfast to me. I'm sure Grandma Nordfors would be proud. She was a great lady. I am so impreseed with Grandma Cheryl posting on the blog. I'm glad you had a good night. Holding a sweet baby is the best therapy ever! You are such a blessing to your family as well as all of us at Valley View!
I am praying for another good day for all of you!

Isn't anyone going to comment on the third person narrative going on here? It's like Karl all over again!
Super Coop is doing so great, especially to those of us that don't see him each day. Whitney likes when Coop does better, Whitney doesn't like Peeps, but Whitney likes Diet Coke.
Thanks for the warning, Meghan, about the search for Peeps - that could be ugly.

Haven't posted a comment for a while, thought I'd chime in.
FYI, I still have people in my ward, friends here in Phoenix, most of whom have never met Charlie, asking about him and his condition and saying they are still thinking about him, checking the blog and praying for him. Max still prays daily for him and asks me to see the latest photos. (Speaking of Max, what exactly are you trying to say about Max's influence on Britty, Meg....? j/k)
I'm so glad we are having some moves in the more positive direction, the kid (and his parents!) sure deserve it. Love that kid.
Rob, I agree - sounds like a great breakfast! I'm glad you are taking good care of yourself by opting for the "diet" coke so as not to consume too much sugar...

annabelle - evidently all of britt's cool words come from max, or max's dad... i.e. keyed, wicked, psyched, stoked... not generally in a 3yr old vocab - one must assume he's hanging out with MUCH older kids ;)

Great stuff! Viv loves stale peeps, do they have any wheat in them? Can't say they interest me, but give me a diet coke or tab (kind of into that right now....heck it is 12:37 am and I am still drinking the stuff) and I am in heaven.

Love the baby pics and boy can I identify with the smell (when my mom was in the hosp losing her intestines>>>eeyycccckk). But, it will all come out well ( a play on words... it is 12:48 am now.)

God bless you all, Jill b

It was wonderful to come into work Monday morning, log on to your site and see good news. What a beautiful little boy in so many ways, I know this must seem like it is taking forever to get somewhere but he is going at his own little pace. What a tough little guy. I would love to see a smile on his little face but I also love peaceful photos of babies sleeping. We don't look as cute sleeping as we get older. Keep the good health news coming, Happy St. Patrick Day!
