Sunday Morn

Another restless night. I think this is getting to be a habit for Charlie. He had a fever and grunted/labored breathing off and on throughout the night. He was sweating so much that the nurse had to change his IV bandage in the early morning. Another resident came by to check him out and I asked her about the MRI. Her interpretation of the impressions was a little different. She said "it didn't have any abscesses so they will stop the vancomyacin and the brain is at the progression they would expect." She said Dr. Lamb will go over it with me later today. The good news so far...no more seizures, he is opening his right eye a little more than ever before with the help of raised eyebrows.

Angel and Rob, I just have to add to the comments about being a strong advocate for your child. The docs and nurses have dozens of patients to take care of. You have Charlie. He is lucky to have informed and educated parents. Lots of patients don't. Unfortunately,it will only get worse as Charlie's condition becomes less life threatening. Charlie will become one of many with neuro deficits. You have a long journey ahead with medical personnel and Charlie. You have to be the boss. Hang in, stay strong.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to stomp your feet and hold your breath til you get your way. Whatever it takes. (Hey, you know it works.)

I liked Marilee's comment! It is so true, you are Charlie's only advocate and I think you guys are doing a fine job of it! (But it might feel good to stomp your feet...maybe yell and throw something! ;) You guys have been through a LOT! Keep hanging in there.
We are all praying for you Charlie!

I think we need to get Dr. House on the case. Have you noticed that the results from all of his clinical tests are given immediately? It would be nice if the real world were a little bit more like our favorite TV shows sometimes. But only sometimes.
