The Verdict is in :->

Charlie just woke up from a 6 hour nap! Hallelujah, and even though he is now awake and crying like crazy his vitals are holding steady. The best thing about his nap is that when he woke up he kicked off the cast representing the team that plays at Lavell Edwards North. With this indisputable evidence Rob is now the proud father of not one (Britton) but two young Cougar fans. I know some (Landon, Troy, Angel, B, Tipp, Any Chilton, Mouth breathers in general) will argue technicalities of cast preparation and application being faulty but know this it was a graduate from your “School of the Prophets” that is responsible for Charlie’s casts in their entirety. It is a great day in PCMC, Cougar town and the rest of the world.
I got to meet Char’s new Attending Physician Dr. Harlan today and there wasn’t really any new info, I just wanted to get on the same page w/ him as far as Charlie’s goals and expectations are concerned and I think it was good. His main goals are to get the shunt inside, stabilize meds, control storms and install a G tube. Best case scenario they figure this will all take at least 2 more weeks. Lets all pray for another long nap and some more baby steps.
On a side note, the Prophet may have gone to theYew but where are his season tickets?

I wanted to let you know that I'm checking in. I have wanted to come up and see y'all in the new room, but I have been so sick. I don't want to share. I am however on the mend and would love to come up sometime this week. I am with Angel on the faulty casting.

Pardon me for intruding in on your life...but I can't help checking in on Charlie. He really is a hero and you two are completely amazing.

From one who gratuated from said "school of prophets" but stays loyal to the Cougs - GO CHARLIE!! I'm glad he's having a better day and shaking off that excess weight of the Ute boot.

Look at that...20,000+ visitors!! That would practically fill the Marriot Center! Now, about filling Lavell Edwards Stadium...I bet it won't take long!!

I could cause some real controversy and say "Go Duke Blue Devils"--(David's Alma mater)--but no, I won't go there.
Glad things are better than earlier. How's that roller coaster ride workin out for ya?

tyler claims it to be "impossible" that he kicked off his cast. voluntary movement or posturing we ask? i can imagine just how much he loathed that ugly color on his leg (says a near decade employee of the u of u). and what about his eyeballs today?
rise and shout, i say char. rise and shout!

and what is this crying like? legit crying, or the annoyed grunting sound?

Great news. While thinking of Charlie earlier, I remembered something I had seen on tv that hospitals here in Houston use frequently. It is a "hand" that you can position around the child to make him feel like he is being held. I wondered if Charlie had anything like that or could benefit from one. I will include a link to a site that has them if you are not familiar with them. I just thought that maybe since he seemed to be so calm while you held him it might help for him to feel as though he were being held all the time. If he could use one, I would be happy to purchase and send your way!!
Keep up the baby steps Charlie - we are all praying for you! You are a fighter! Here is the link. http://www.pregnancystore.com/zaky.htm

It was an honor to meet Angel today at the furniture store! I wanted to say so much more, but I didn't want to cry. You are an amazing lady and your strength is inspiring. My family continues to pray for you, Rob and little Charlie. I love Grandma Cheryl and I know she is a strong advocate for you. Continue to feel the strength being sent your way.

I also want to know what kind of crying? And Charlie just wanted to show which leg was strongest, the one with the will of a Ute. Stop ripping this kid in two with the BYU/Ute stuff - he'll tell you in a couple of years who he loves more... oh the pressure on this kid.

Angel and Rob,

I stumbled upon your blog(s) through Merianne's and just wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you! Charlie is adorable and is obviously a fighter. I hope he continues to have good days and that you all get the sleep you need!

Marilee, you are a Cougar! Have you forgotten. I guess Duke does have the right colors. (What am I talking about, I am a Ute, Aggie and Jazz fan.. and then the Y).
Go Charlie, you tough little kid. Keep it up and the coach will sign you as future draft pick. I know I would..

Yes..Go

Go Utes. Being that I went to neither the U or the Y, I have a non-bais opinion. Go Utes, way to show the stronger leg. I think he was just saying the Utes don't need a cast, while the Y always needs a little help.

Charlie! Get better soon!

Still snoozin'? That's great, and I hope it's still true! I love to look at those little toes--no matter what color is on them!

I was in an elevator with Thomas Monson at LDS Hospital. It was just after the 2004 byu utah game. He started the conversation "Hey what a great season we had! I just grinned and said "yes sir it sure was" he then responded with "im a baseball guy but I enjoy football too...I'm a Ute you know?" I smiled ear to hear and replied "Yes sir I was aware of that and I'm proud of that fact". He smiled and said to be safe at the fiesta bowl. He is a PR genius but in an elevator looking into the eyes of a man of God he told me what affiliation he was of. Until a year ago that was substantiated by my mother who was present. Now it is just my word. Lets state the facts shall we? If any one who reads this can imagine themselves looking at both Rob and Angel and having one tell you to go this way and one tell you to go that way...sorry Rob I'm going the direction of that Blonde Angleic Being who would NEVER lead me astray!

What inquiring minds really want to know is when he kicked that cast off? did it sail 55 yards? or was it wide right? :) ......I love this stuff!! Congrats on the FANTASTIC DAY!!! ....

I love you, Troy. You make me smile. GK

Ahhh thanks "GK". I forget that many read these who dont know that this back and forth banter is a part of our regular daily lives with Rob. And that fact that it is manifesting itself once again, is a VERY VERY GOOD SIGN!
