Busy Boy :o

Charlie had about 45 minutes of sleep and then the orders came from the resident to re-start fluids through an IV and get a urine sample to see if he has an infection. When Stacey cathed him he peed all over so the sample was contaminated. She will need to wait an hour and then try again. He was already mad from being cathed and then the IV team came.
1st attempt at inserting the IV. Charlie moved his arm so much that the port came out before it was secured.
The foot proved to be an easier stick.

We decided to weigh/measure and change his bedding so hopefully when he calms again he gets a big nap. Good news: While he was calm due to the clonadine he digested his food (only 20 cc residual compared to 45cc and 55cc earlier today). He has calmed down again now that we have left him alone for a bit.

Rob, the nurse, came up with a solution that may settle his stomach. Do you think the doctors will approve?

Poor little Charlie! I'm sorry he is being poked and prodded so much! The Diet Coke always works for me! Hope the evening gets better and that Charlie has some wet diapers! Our prayers continue with all of you. I'll bet Grandma Cheryl is missing Charlie!

I am sure he is already on this but how about something like Reglan that helps the stomach empty?

Diet Coke does make lots of ailments feel better! I'm sad Charlie is so uncomfortable but know he is getting terrific care from his parents, nurses and doctors. I've had a great get-away to Colorado. I'm glad I could be here to pin Trisha's badge on at last nights ceremony and the warm temps, blue sky and hanging out with Trish, Jared and John has been awesome but I sure feel a void when I can't kiss the head of my sick little Charlie.
Miss you all!

What do they say about his stomach not emptying? Are there obvious reasons? Do they still think he has some bowel blocking issues? I love Diet Coke, it should help him wet his diapers more easily.

They don't know why his stomach isn't emptying. At least I haven't heard any explanations yet but I'm planning on asking Terry Such-Neibar on Monday.

just FYI for everyone- He really isn't getting Coke in his g-tube. It is a staged picture, although I think it would help.

Rob, did you enjoy the gotcha? Too bad there isn't really a simple cure for his tummy ailments.
If you're there Jo, we loved the pics of the newest member of this family. So many precious babies.

poor little charlie. hope he sleeps well. britty came over to play tonight, it was lots of fun. i am pretty sure he wants to come back soon. britt loved izzy's play kitchen. i mostly love when the boys stop playing power rangers and slip into the homemaking role and do some babytending and grocery shopping.

Well I know from experience that carbonation does not go in tubes very well. have they said anything about a GJ yet? We had one for almost a year, but it definately made a difference later on when we started stomach feedings because his tummy had time to relax and not work so hard. I would be glad to give you any info on it if you would like.

I hope he gets better soon and that it isn't too serious.

ok, so trying not to offend anyone, but were there people who seriously belived the cola rx? wow. linds wasn't kidding raab. the quietest amd most pleasant portion of the evening was when britt & ry were cooking and changing diapers...of dollies. invest in a kitchen for that big playroom. he loved it

At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all and a broken record, can't they just try the Lactobacillus? Please tell me to mind my own business or to get a degree first if you wish.

andrea - i am sure ang will answer, but we were talking about that the other day and they brought it up to the dr/rn who said coop has been off anitbiotics for a long time, so he should have positive bacteria in his tummy and that shouldn't be the problem... ang might have a better explanation...

Just make sure Rob (the nurse) keeps the DC close and keeps Charlie away for ceiling fans.....Ask him about it,if you ever need a good laugh! That little guy is in good hands.
