BIAU 5K

We had a GREAT time at the 5K yesterday! There was a huge turnout and the Charlie Fans were represented in the gray shirts - we were everywhere, and it was awesome. Charlie & his family got to see family and friends, and meet a lot of new friends. He did great in his stroller and actually was the first to cross the finish line... who cares that he only did a quarter lap! Thanks to a few excellent photographers, we have several hundred pictures, so we will have a video slideshow of those pictures soon.

There are several people who we need to thank for going above and beyond - Celeste at Salcorp for donating the t-shirts and being very patient with us, Scott Collett Design for donating the artwork for the shirts, Jimmy Wilson (not sure where we got Matthews) and crew for making awesome reminderband bracelets (more info to come on those), CH Bagpiping for a special start to the race, Firefighter Lambert for taking 524 photographs, Chris McKay for donating hundreds of bottles of water for the racers, Chad at Little Debbie for donating all the granola bars for the racers, all of our t-shirt deliverers, and Candi, Lindsay, Angel, Suz & Cheryl for providing the snacks for our littlest racers.

Thanks to everyone who was there - or there in spirit. It was another awesome and overwhelming experience. Charlie is an amazing little boy who is loved so, so much.

Bruce called me last night regarding the story behind Charlie and his illness. Bruce walked home after piping with Chris. He could not shake the feeling of compassion he had for this little boy he had just met for the first time at the BIAU walk. His grandfatherly love had brought him to tears as he prayed for Charlie's continuing recovery for health and strength. Charlie's friends at CH Bagpiping were honored to participate at the event in his behalf. Charlie's story touches someone new everyday bringing new faith and hope into their life. Thank you for sharing his remarkable legacy with us.

I am SOOO sad that I could not be at the race. I would have loved to see sweet Charlie and meet everyone! You are such a positive driving force to many of us! I love reading the blog and I am anxious to see the slide show. thanks to Meghan for keeping us up to date. I am sure Angel and Rob have their hands full and it is helpful to have you dosome of the updates! My love and prayers are with Charlie and family. You are in my thoughts many times throughout the day and I know Heavenly Father is always close by you. Charlie evokes such a strong spirit and has filled so many with love and compassion.

Wish we could have been there...:( Give that little Charlie a big hug from all of us who haven't had the opportunity of meeting him yet. I'm sure he is such a special little guy, and we have felt so uplifted being able to follow this blog...thank you for your examples!

I want to say "Thank You!" for all your hard work, and the hard work of the BIAU volunteers, in promoting and organizing this race.

I brought my 7 yr old son with me, it was his first 5K, and he was so pleased to be able to do something to help Charlie, who he thought was adorable! He told me he wanted to wear his new shirt to school for show and tell and tell his classmates that he ran a 5K for brain injury.

In short, thank you for providing my son with the opportunity to give something of himself for the benefit of others, and thank you for providing me, as a parent, an opportunity to teach my child to reach out to others. It has been a powerfully uplifting experience for us, one we won't soon forget, and one we hope to repeat!

I'm glad you had such a great turn out. Wish we could have been there, but 7 months pregnant and a 5k just don't feel like a good match right now. Take care.

When I think about Saturday and the amazing turnout of those in gray shirts, all I can say is WOW! It was so great being part of such a selfless act of support. I was so proud to be related to this amazing family and look around and see so many loving and thoughtful people. Thank you! Thank you! I hope to see you all again next year as we take more steps for sweet Charlie!
