Unwrapped :)

The ENT fellow unwrapping Charlie's pressure bandage
Inspecting the site and feeling for the implanted disc. There is too much swelling to find the exact location right now but the site looks good.
This picture shows his shaved head and incision site. The stitches are underneath the first layer of skin ad they will disolve in a couple weeks. There is some swelling on his head that is expected and it will continue for a couple days. The top layer of skin is held in by steri-strips.

So how do they attach the little device? I'm glad he had such a great night, what a sweet boy. Caroline wants to know why the doctor is hurting Charlie (the second picture). She asked if he is still sick and if he is hungry, she thinks that might be why he looks sad because his stomach is growling like a bear.

The internal device and external device attach by magnets. The implant won't be turned on/programmed for a month. I don't think he is hungry, I think he just doesn't like his head messed but how cute is she?

She asked to look at the pictures again and said, "Charlie says "Ouch, it hurts, I need kisses!"". So kisses should help.

I bet Rob can hardly wait to get Cooper up to Hill AFB and have the other side of his head shaved! So glad he is doing well today. Keep the drugs a flowing so he doesn't get a headache!

Hi Guys. I'm a friend of a friend and I just have to share this quick story with you. My 5 year old and I have been following Charlie's story since about a week after your arrival at PCMC. Last night I had to take him up there to the ER for pneumonia and some other issues. While we were waiting for some test results, he was drifting in and out of sleep. With his eyes half shut and not seeming very awake, he said out of the blue, "Mommy, is this the hospital Charlie is at?" When I told him yes he had a very slight smile (eyes still mostly closed) and said, "Can we go see him? I want to give him a hug."
Your little man is so loved by so many people that you don't even know. You have been blessed to have him, and the rest of us have been blessed by your sharing his story. Thank you.

I think you should give Charlie a Chuck Liddell haircut - it would make him look super tough! If you're not a UFC fan, google him, it's pretty funny! In that second pic, is he crying in response to pain, or does it just bug him to be messed with? It doesn't look near as bad as I would have imagined, he looks so good!

I am so pleased to hear Charlie is doing well and the stress for everyone of surgery is over for now. The pictures break my heart, Charlie is so cute and too sweet to have so many owies and big bandaids. My prayers are with you and I am doing my best to raise a little awareness and money for Charlie. What a little Angel. God bless you.
