Like I said earlier, Charlie has been acting uncomfortable all day, like his belly is bothering him. When he is uncomfortable he grunts then he swallows more air and that makes him more bloated which in turn makes him more uncomfortable so he grunts... you get the picture. Amber, the nurse, has taken a huge syringe (see picture below) and pulled out air from his stomach through his feeding tube and at 5:00 he calmed right down and slept for a couple hours. When he woke up again and would not calm down we tried the same thing but there was not much air so we deducted he must be backed up and just tried a suppository. We're waiting for the result and hopefully he will be feeling good and tired for a good nights sleep. He really hasn't slept much today at all so he should be worn out His feeding schedule is being adjusted due to his discomfort and in preparation for when we are able to go home. Currently during the day he has a feeding over 2 hours then has two hours free. However tonight he has two back to back feedings (8:00-10:00 and 10:00-12:00) then nothing until 8:00 in the morning. The goal for home is that there will be 6 hours where we don't have to give any medication or food so we can get some rest.
PS- Why do haircuts always make kids look older?

I had to take this picture to give a visual on how huge the syringe is that the nurses used to pull out air.

I think that you need to re-title it to "handsome little angel baby".. he is a little naughty, but not on purpose. love the hairdo. we'll modify the prayers to ask for comfortable but not too full belly's.
oh, and as ry said, "top o the mornin to ya" tomorrow on your happy to you.
Ang, what did he finally do with the binky? Did he keep it in for a while? And, can they just add Miralax to his food tube? I hate backed up babies!
I agree about haircuts and looking older. I have been told I can't give J another haircut until he is well into his first year (which has nothing to do with him looking older...)
Coop gets a regular dose of Miralax in the am for a bm in the pm (I don't think it's the Miralax slogan). About the binky- he chewed on it for a little and possibly could have swallowed once or twice but he didn't really like it yet. Randa, the nurse, even dipped it in root beer flavoring but he only swallowed once for that and then didn't want it again. The speech therapist said she would come up and teach me some things I can work on with the binky. One big thing he has to work on is holding his own head up because the neck muscles are the swollowing muscles too.
Meg- I've never heard of the saying "Handsome little angel baby" where does that come from? Will RyRy tell me "top of the mornin" because I think Coop can be a leprachaun with the red hair.
I know Dennis and LeeAnn in beaver and she was the one that linked me to charlies blog.. He is such an insperation and your right he is pretty handsome.. Me and my 4 year old check your blog every day to see how he is doing! take care..Jeannie

a - i don't think it is a real saying, but i just can't call him a little devil. perhaps brit and ry can be devils, but not coop - yet until he's naughty on purpose... and the slogan is a doxidan in the pm for a bm in the am. why would i remember that?
I'm positive that I heard the doxidan slogan from you and yes brit and ry can be devils especially when they are together. I think they are "handsome" too.
It may be just me, but I think Coop's eyes look a ton better in these pics. Thanks, as always, for sharing.
And, I will hop on the wagon to wish Angel a happy birthday!! I hope it is a good one!!
I like the hair cut he looks so nice. Kippi
